Royal Bangkok Sports Club

Lucky lucky pnut got to go swimming today! Instead of going to our usual watering hole, the Polo Club, we decided to try out the new and "improved" swimming pool at the Sports Club. We were not impressed. First of all, the children's changing rooms were all the way upstairs - that's real safe to have a bunch of wet little kids running up and down stairs, and remember this is Thailand so of course the flooring they used is slippery when wet. The changing room is soooo stinkin' small, not air conditioned and there's no where to sit/change baby. The showers are tiny which makes no sense for the children's changing room since more often then not there will be at least two people in them (child and parent). Did I mention they were not air conditioned??? Second there's absolutely no shade in the baby pool - well I take that back by 2:30 the buildings half shaded the pools. Third they didn't make the baby pool ozone or salt water. Fourth the Pool Side Cafe SUCKS! Fifth the ground around the pool got scorching hot which I think is from whatever they material they used because the ground at the Polo club does not get that hot. And sixth the whole set up was impersonal and stupid.

However the actual design of the baby pool was awesome. It was two circles touching and an arm around one side of the circles. I wish I had pictures but of course my camera was out of batteries. Anyways one circle was "deep" it came up to my waist so Tira couldn't stand it in. The arm part was not quite as deep and came up to Tira’s arm pits. She could walk around there no problem without her water wings. And the other circle was shallow, the water only came up to Tira's knees. She loved this section because she could crawl in the water and float on her tummy using her hands to support herself. She loved going back and fourth between the two sections and up and down the stairs (of course). The different levels got a little confusing for her because at one point she kept trying to get on her knees in the part that was too deep. Despite all the things I didn't like about the place Tira had a blast. I don't have pictures from today but here are some cutie patootie pictures of her last Sunday at Polo:
