Easter Treats

Two blog posts in one day - don't die of shock!!

Since my babies aren't going to be around for Easter I thought I'd make some fun Easter treats for them while they were still here. I stole both ideas from various food/crafting blogs.

Sunday we made chocolate nests. It's super simple and all over the internet right now. I started out with dried chow mein noodles, 1 cup chocolate chips, 1/2 cup peanut butter, and Cadbury mini eggs (but you could use jelly beans or robins eggs, whatever you like best).

Melt the peanut butter and chocolate and stir to combine.

If you're letting your kids help watch out because the bowl can get hot. Next dump in the container of noddles. Mix until all the noodles are coated.

Drop 2-3 inch blobs on a greased or wax paper covered cookie sheet. Try to make it a little indented in the middle - you know like a nest. I experimented and greased some little bowls. They made better shaped nests but it was hard to get them out once they had hardened.

And if you ate all your dinner like a good girl you get to lick the spoon. Notice that Lanna didn't any.

Stick them in the fridge until they harden, then top with the egg shaped candy. Fun.

Today I stumbled upon the cutest idea ever! Bunny pancakes! They were not super hard to make but make sure to start with a big oval or you're going to have a hard time with the mouth and ears. Next time I'll use more food coloring because when the pancakes browned you lost a little bit of the color and you could just barely see the difference between the pink outside and white inside. Dinner for breakfast is always a hit in our house and even more so with pink bunny pancakes.

Monday-itis Releved

Got a case of the Mondays? I've got something to make it all better!

Lanna is slightly obsessed with the fact that I can perform magic. Yes I admit it I'm not a muggle. She knows that when I take her binkie I make it disappear and I can magically make it re-appear at will. It's fun. Here's a video for your viewing pleasure.

But that's not all. For Tira's birthday she got a bunch of art supplies. Crayons, markers, coloring books. My co-worker bought her giant Kai Lan coloring sheets and we've been working on staying in the lines. Here's her first attempt at that:

Now lets examine this a little closer. Note the golden eyes and bloody mouth. I think someone has been reading my Twilight books behind my back.

I also have to point out that she now "signs" all of her art.

Happy Monday!!
